Hello I'm new to Ubuntu and all in Linux. I have a computer with 8 GB of RAM and a processor Intel core i7 3770S and video card nVidia GeForce 640M and and Intel integrated graphics. In my system information is displayed only integrated graphics Intel. How do I switch to the nVidia GeForce 640M (in the BIOS do not have this function)? Sorry for the grammatical errors, I do not know much English.

I am running on a Lenovo Y50 with an Intel i7 / Geforce GTX 860M and for whatever reason I can only get the nvidia-331-updates drivers to work as this link suggests. Literally any other nvidia driver will leave me with the same problem you are describing. It seems like its hit or miss with this Optimus technology. Hopefully we will get a good update for it in the near future.
If you don't want to install any extra packages, switching between the nVidia GPU (Performance Mode) and the Intel GPU (Power Saving Mode) could be achieved by using the NVIDIA X Server Settings, which has already been installed along with your driver.
First thing you will need to do is to find the NVIDIA X Server Settings application from your dash:
And go to the PRIME Profiles page
From there, after entering your password you will be able to switch between your GPUs:
The last step is to log out, and it's done!

Then execute the following command on your terminal:
To switch to the Intel onboard graphics :
sudo prime-select intelTo switch to the Nvidia graphics :
