Over the summer, I had the opportunity to use a Macbook for my internship. Although I really did enjoy it, I missed the customization of Ubuntu. However, there was one app that I really missed, called Mosaic. It was a graphical interface to window tiling, where I can drag a window over an icon and its snaps to a respective position and size. Does anyone know of an alternative for Ubuntu, preferably Gnome?

I'm not sure if it can do what you are asking but compizconfig-settings-manager can do many tricks and you might find an answer there.
By choosing Place Windows in Windows Management you are able to individually define a fixed location for windows:

By default, XFCE/Xubuntu tiling is a mouse only affair.
However, you do have the ability to define your own keyboard shortcuts:
Using settings manager --> window manager you have the Tile Actions as shown.
In the picture I have defined two custom keyboard shortcuts CTRL+T to tile the current window to the top and CTRL+G to tile to the bottom.
To define your own keyboard shortcut - double click in the shortcut field next to the action.

Natively on Ubuntu Budgie, but if you don't mind setting up manually, it should work on all window managers that support the dependencies (not wayland): WindowShuffler
It can be used both via GUI as well as via (basic) keyboard support.
