This looks a neat programme for managing cryptocurrency on Linux
I've been using Ubuntu for 3 or 4 years, used the terminal parrot fashion for various functions and installs, but have v. little knowledge.
Does anyone think this would run on Ubuntu and if so, how could I install it?
Or is there a better solution?

Launchpad has a Personal Package Archives (PPA) for bitcoin.
You can add this PPA to your system's software sources: ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
After that you can search ubuntu software center for bitcoin or from terminal sudo apt-get install bitcoin
By the way: bitcoin is only available for maverick and lucid so after adding the PPA change the distribution to maverick.

To change from 'natty' to 'maverick' for a PPA you can do this from the Ubuntu software center:
Click the bitcoin PPA and choose edit. Next it changing 'Natty' to 'Maverick':
Reload the sources (it will prompt for it) and you should be able to install maverick's version of 'bitcoin'.
I just tried it on 12.10, and it worked. Try running this: just press Ctrl+Alt+T on your keyboard to open Terminal. When it opens, run the commands below.
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Then run the steps below in Terminal in the exact order:
sudo apt-get install python-qt4 python-pip
sudo pip install http://download.electrum.org/download/Electrum-1.7.3.tar.gz#md5=22a35b0816f7c6c59fbeddb50e832ada
electrum
Once I ran electrum from terminal, I got a window that opened, and I clicked on create, and took me through the steps of creating a wallet.

Exodus co-founder here... You can place the folder wherever you like. We recommend just dropping it in your home directory. You can then run Exodus by just double-clicking on the
Exodusprogram or by running it directly from the terminal:./Exodus.Long-term, we'll probably offer a
.debso that it can easily be installed in the proper location. Also, note that it'll only run on 64-bit Linux.
