I am using LXDE in Ubuntu 11.10. KDE apps like Kate and Kile have an ugly Windows-95ish look when run in LXDE, but look fine in Gnome. How do I choose the theme/widget style for KDE apps in LXDE?
In case it matters, I installed LXDE by using the package lxde, and not lubuntu-desktop since the latter would bring in various things like abiword which I didn't want.
the problem is that gnome 3.4 totally changed the way themes are written, which means, gtk3.2 themes (including this one) wont work on gnome3.4
one way is to downgrade to gnome3.2 from 3.4
there are 'a few' (very few) themes ported to gnome 3.4
and as far as i know theme developers are not so happy about this too, i guess, talked to some of them, they aren't happy!
There's a great tool that let's you easily configure GTK2 and GTK3 themes on KDE:
Go to the place where you downloaded your file and in a console type:
sudo dpkg -i package_name.deb
Where package name is the name of the package you downloaded
If it complains about a ependeny kdebase-runtime needed, simply install it by:
sudo apt-get install kdebase-runtime
On KDE System Settings - Applications Appearance you now have more 2 menus on the left tab, where you can choose GTK2 or GTK3 themes

Install QT4 COnfiguration.
sudo apt-get install qt4-qtconfigThen Select GTk+ in GUI Style
