Before Unity I could go to the main menu and navigate to the "C:" folder when Wine has all the programs. Using Unity and the Dash how can I get to the wine directory quickly since right now what I am doing is going to Nautilus, pressing CTRL+L and addint .wine to the location bar so it looks something like /home/cyrex/.wine and then clicking on the drive_c there to enter the real directory I want.
Is there a way to do it?
You can create a Launcher item in /usr/share/applications. For Wine applications, say foobar.exe, you can create a foobar.desktop file like:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=FooBar
Comment=Foo & Bar
Exec=sh -c "cd /home/USER/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/FOOBAR_FOLDER; wine foobar.exe"
Icon=wine
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Wine;
StartupNotify=true
replacing USER and FOOBAR_FOLDER with appropriate values.
So you'll be able to locate your application in the Launcher by typing "FooBar".
I looked in the "configure Wine" window, but to change the C directory is greyed out:
What simply works however is:
Move the folder drive_c from ~/.wine/ to any accesible location of your choice (The c-drive is probably what you really want to move, since applications are stored in that directory)
Make a link from there into the folder ~/.wine/:
ln -s /path/to/the_other_location/drive_c ~/.wine
That should simply work (and it does on my system)

Well it might look like I was not even paying attention to what I was asking here but it just came to me to type drive in the dash and what do you know, look at this:
The Browse C: Drive option appears and you can even drag it to the launcher. So it not only does work with Dash but you can also add it to the launcher to speed things up when I want to go inside the C: drive. Love Unity more and more.
