My Windows 10 update is getting stuck for me today at this point
It’s unclear if this is due to demand today, or thanks to other bugs. The list of problems related to Windows 10 getting stuck within tweets is never-ending and more are arriving every couple of minutes.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
Typically when I have a fresh system of a less than freshly released OS with a ton of patches, I tend to hit it with a copy of wsus offline update. Run the updater and it builds an offline update pack of all the current/necessary updates. Then run it and it installs. This should include the update for windows update (which i seem to recall works from way back). And you can update the update pack periodically and reuse it for other systems or your next rebuild.
its super simple, and in my experience, tends to get a system up quick. It will make an initial, large download but otherwise its pretty painless. In your shoes I'd pick the USB medium option, pick a local directory to download the updates to, wait for it to download, then run the installer there.

The last one in effect reinstalls Windows 10 but conserves all user data. It is often used to correct errors arising from imperfect upgrade to Windows 10. You should only use it if all else has failed, and be sure to take good backup before starting, and use the most-recently available Windows 10 ISO.

At the first time when i tried to download windows 10 through windows update, it looks for me like it stucks at preparing for installation... So i stopped the process, restart my windows 8.1 and re-download windows 10. Samething happened for the second time, but i have waited for about 30 minutes and i have noticed that the progress bar of preparing for installation... continued to progress very very slowly and when it reached a specific point of the progress bar it suddenly finished the "preparing for installation..." phase and jumped to the upgrade phase.
I do not really know why it progresses very slowly (maybe a background task), but I found that the best solution is to wait for a big amount of time until every thing is done.
