Visio 2010 – Draw a Line in Visio 2010 Without End Points Jumping Around

I am trying to draw lines in Visio 2010, but for a reason, the end (and for that matter the start) points keep jumping around. That is, if I want to draw small shapes, they can only be drawn in 0 and multiple of 45 degree angles. I figure it has to do with the "grid", but how can I turn that off?

On the View tab of the ribbon click on the box, bottom right, of the Visual Aids group.

This allows you to control what things Visio will snap your lines to.

I improved the code a bit, which means you don't have to hard code the shape name.

Instead use this macro:

Sub EditObject()
    Dim s As Shape
    Set s = ActiveWindow.Selection.PrimaryItem
    s.OpenDrawWindow.Activate
End Sub

Save this Macro just as you have. Go into the "Behavior" (on the Developer tab) of the shape you want to edit, and change the Double-Click (tab 2) to "Run Macro", and select your macro.

Now, double clicking on the shape should bring up the edit window.

Visio can't work directly with PDF files. Either get a PDF file editor, or convert the PDF into DXF format (there are free converters available for that job), then import the DXF file into Visio.
