I just started to use iterm2 on MacOS and find that it has really nice features especially for splitting terminal screen. However, when trying to toggle between chunk of input in with "Alt + arrow left/right" (which works in standard Terminal) writes "[D" instead jumping from chunk to chunk. Do you know how I could do to successfully jump from chunk to chunk?

As usual... KeyRemap4MacBook to the rescue :P Its emacs mode will give you those bindings, and you can choose a lot more bindings than that as well:
⌘← can be assigned to \eOH and ⌘→ to \eOF. You could assign ⌥← to \eb like in Terminal, but it doesn't work in vi mode or nano.
In emacs mode you could also add this to .inputrc:
"\e[1;9D": backward-word
"\e[1;9C": forward-word
"\e[3~": kill-word
C-v shows the escape sequence for the next key combination. ^[ is ESC in caret notation. bind -p prints currently bound commands.

Go to Iterm2 Preferences Profile Keys. Click on "load Preset..." drop down-menu Natural text editing and chose "Natural Text Editing"
after that, the command "alt + arrow left/right" should function properly
