Sometimes a row of desktops appears at top of the screen while dragging window to the top. It happened without activating Mission Control.
Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce this behaviour. How do I do it again? I wish to use this to move an app window to another Desktop.
Just going into the main Mission control window will solve this, it will give a nice summary like view of all your open (fullscreen) windows. Another way to switch between fullscreen windows is selecting the "Window" menu item or the Safari icon in your dock and choosing the right window from there.

If you want to use a keyboard shortcut to accomplish this you can use an application that binds a keyboard shortcut to an Apple script, like FastScripts. The next step is placing the script in your /Library/Scripts folder and adding a shortcut to the script in the FastScripts preferences.
I'm not really good with Apple scripts, but this is a sort of working script that I made:

The big problem with this script is this:
The line click menu item 14 will make the first window that you see when you click on the "Window" menu item active, and changing it to click menu item 15 will make the second window active. However, obviously, this isn't included in my code, and I don't have the time to work on it today, so you can either ask someone else how to do this or wait until tomorrow.
You can't get one window of an app to follow you to all Spaces - but you can, if you have shortcut keys setup to swap Spaces, grab the menu bar of the required window, hit the shortcut & 'take it with you' to the new Space.
If you don't have it set up already, System Prefs > Keyboard > Shortcuts…
One thing to note - if you do that with Finder windows, it can break the 'click desktop to go back to Space 1' functionality, til you relaunch the Finder.

To move an app window to a new Desktop without manually invoking Mission Control, simply drag the app window all the way up to the edge of the screen and hold. You'll be shown the row of desktops at the top.
Simply dragging the app window to top may not work. To make sure you enter this mode every time, drag the app window in one fast and smooth motion, and to the top most edge of the screen.
Carefully watch how it's done in the linked GIF. I have purposely dragged the window down, then dragged it smoothly in one go towards the top.
You can either move the app window to one of the already available desktops or drop it onto the
+symbol towards extreme right corner to create a new desktop.A blank desktop with the name of the app underneath is also show at the end of the list of desktops. Dropping the app window onto it will take the app window full-screen.
If you have a multi monitor setup, the app window can also be dropped onto the other monitor(s).
An alternate method to move an app window to different desktop is to move it in a similar manner to the right or left edge of the screen. However, this will work only if there's already an existing desktop to the right of left. Unlike the above, this approach has the limitation that it won't give you the option to create a new Desktop, and the app can't be directly taken to full-screen mode.
