MacOS – Mavericks theme for Yosemite

I have to admit I don't really like the new design of OS X Yosemite, and I would like to get the good old Mavericks theme on the current Yosemite install.

Is this possible?

Not fully.

You can swap icons with LiteIcon but not the overall theme, as far as I know.

MacOS – change the OS X theme

Out of the box there is no themeing capability in Mac OS X, you can however modify some of the colours used by Mac OS X in the Appearance Preference Pane in System Preferences.

If you're serious about themeing however there are 3rd party applications you can get to help with this:

CandyBar - manages and changes icons.
ThemePark - does most everything else. If you're interested in available themes that work with ThemePark check out MacThemes

Otherwise a fairly good resource is the forum at MacThemes.

The themes are stored within the Application bundle itself, which is code signed, so even if you figure out how to modify them - the OS will not want to run the tampered application.

You might be better off with the Pro Version of the tool if you need to customize a theme and control or you might be able to create the title and end sequences in Motion and use iMovie for the rest of the editing. That's far less expensive than the Final Cut Pro price - but you can test drive that for free if you wish.
