How to move the cursor one character forward in iterm2? I can move one character backward with ^b. I tried ^f but instead of moving one character forward, it scroll through command history from the beginning.

I finally found the solution to this problem here: https://coderwall.com/p/h6yfda. The necessary steps are shown below:
- Go to Preferences, Profile, Keys.
- Set your left ⌥ key to act as an escape character.
- Locate the current shortcut for ⌥ ← or create a new one, with the following settings:
- Keyboard Shortcut: ⌥←
- Action: Send Escape Sequence
- Esc+: b
- repeat for the ⌥→ keyboard shortcut with the following settings:
- Keyboard Shortcut: ⌥→
- Action: Send Escape Sequence
- Esc+: f

I was able to do this by going to
Preferences > ProfilesThen, on the right hand side of the page, click on the
Keystab and then on theLoad Presetdropdown box. Then selectNatural Text Editing.Hope this helps.
