I recently executed a stupid "Discard All Changes" on my Xcode project that resulted in the project being deleted.
I haven't found a way to recover it yet, but I was wondering since I had installed the Xcode project on my iPhone for testing, if there is any way I can take the project from the phone, or if it simply doesn't work like that.
The app still runs on my phone.
When you say that you've installed from scratch do you mean you restored the device and set it up as a new device without restoring from a backup? If not, try that.
The "Other" category for iOS storage contains a number of things including email, caches, settings, and so on. For >10GB of data I would guess its email attachments or the like.
If you have tried to set up the phone as a new device in iTunes, try resetting the iPhone from the phone instead:
Settings → General → Reset → Erase All Content and Settings
Once the phone reboots go through the setup on the phone, and then check your usage in:
Settings → General → Usage
That will tell you how much storage is available. It should be a more palatable number then what you've been seeing.
Never. mind. Of course one ends up solving something like this right after posting on StackExchange.
This is simply a naming thing. Apple started calling their development tools "command line tools" starting from 10.7, which is why I could not find the old dev tools when I searched for this. 'Xcode 3.1 Developer Tools' is the name of the download. This question pointed me in the right direction.

It should appear in the trash folder on your Mac. To access it click the trash icon in the dock.
You should be able to recover it there if you didn’t empty the trash.
