Whenever I send or receive messages on my iPhone they show up on my MacBook also. I was wondering how I could get that to stop?
It used to be that my texts wouldn't show up, and I could message through my MacBook also but now its just annoying and I'd rather not have my siblings creeping through my messages by reading them on my laptop.
This is simple to accomplish if you have an iPhone to associate your phone number with your Apple ID account. I'm not aware of any way to hack, trick or cajole Apple to add a cell phone number to an Apple ID other than it going through the normal activation process on iPhone only.
As you can see, it is allowed to add more emails to an Apple ID, but the adding of phone numbers happens when you activate things from a live phone account and SMS messaging verifies that the phone number matches the iPhone.
Once that's done, Apple is happy to let your Mac or iPad or phone "iMessage" from that telephone number.
The issue might be the way that you have your notifications for Messages set. If you go under Notifications -> Messages, you will see something that says "Messages alert style:" and will have the option to select None, Banners, or Alerts.
Make sure you don't have "None" set as your alert style. You can also set the badge counter to show for when you get a new message by clicking the "Badge app icon" option lower on the screen.

[Edit] Re-reading your question, you want to be able to send from iPhone & MacBook, but not have the MacBook show any conversations initiated from the phone?
Never tried that one, but perhaps by disabling one or more of the account number/email address options further down the same page.
I've always had conversations appear in both locations, Mac & phone, never seen it behave any differently, unless I was in some poor reception area.
