Feasible to check out XML file from QuickLook

How can I use QuickLook to check out XML file? I just want to quickly check out the contents of a file and don't have to open it in a format that can be subsequently modified, such as in TextEdit or Vim or whatever other editors out there. I even don't like to open it in Xcode using drag and drop – just want to push Space and glance at the contents there.

And it looks like QLStephen doesn't support XML/plist files. So is there any alternative way to glance at it from QuickLook?

I use OS X 10.9.2.

When installing Textmate 2 you get QuickLook support for a bunch of data files including XML, Json etc.

There is a much easier way.

Create a Print Preset, with the settings as you want them. Select it.
Press the Print button while holding down Alt (Option).

That will force your current settings to be the default for the printer.

Running

defaults write -g QLEnableTextSelection -bool true

and relaunching applications works for me. defaults write com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection -bool true only applies to Finder but defaults write -g QLEnableTextSelection -bool true applies to all applications.

If it doesn't work, see what Quick Look generator handles plain text files:

$ qlmanage -m|grep public.plain-text
  public.plain-text -> /System/Library/QuickLook/Text.qlgenerator (555.0)

If it is not Text.qlgenerator, try to delete it and run qlmanage -r.
