Sshfs – transport endpoint is not connected

After reinstalling the server I can not mount it

sshfs root@domain.com:/var /remote_mount
fuse: bad mount point `/remote_mount': Transport endpoint is not connected

Your SSHd has not been setup.

Do that first and try again.

To transform remote absolute (starting with /) symlinks to be relative to the sshfs mount point, use the follow_symlinks option:

sshfs -o follow_symlinks ...

The transform_symlinks option does nothing for me, see this issue.

I was using the -F /path/to/config option. The answer was in my config file where I had

IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa

which did not work. The absolute path is required:

IdentityFile /home/user/.ssh/id_rsa
