Freebsd – n easy way to rebuild all ports

In the upgrade process for 10.1-RELEASE, I'm prompted with this:

Installing updates...
Completing this upgrade requires removing old shared object files.
Please rebuild all installed 3rd party software (e.g., programs
installed from the ports tree) and then run "/usr/sbin/freebsd-update install"
again to finish installing updates.

Is there a way to quickly rebuild all of my ports? Perhaps buried in portmaster's huge man page? I couldn't find it myself…

portmaster -af

Forget about "quickly" though. This may take some time depending on your machine and the ports installed. :)

After that, you'll have to run freebsd-update install one last time.

I think ports-mgmt/portconf will do what do you want:

Portconf is a simple framework to set ports options in an universal way. Knobs set to specific ports are honoured by portmaster, portupgrade, portmanager and 'make install'.

Freebsd – Replace FreeBSD base clang with ports clang

You would treat the ports clang as an alternative compiler, just like when GCC was the default.

As per the FreeBSD wiki, add the following lines to /etc/make.conf (if you want to use clang for everything, even ports), or /etc/src.conf (if you want to use clang just for world and kernel):

CC=/path/to/clang
CXX=/path/to/clang++
CPP=/path/to/clang-cpp

Check where the ports clang binaries where installed under /usr/local and adjust accordingly.
