Alt +Tab behaviour in Gnome

It may be a silly question but in Windows I used ShiftAltTab to switch back between my open windows, that is go back to previous windows.

Unfortunately, it is not working in Gnome. I have even used AltTabLeft but with no success.

So how can I do the same in Gnome on RHEL6?

Sounds like something potentially with your keyboard or your installation. I use both of the following in Gnome:

Double check that the preferences are set so that moving right to left is configured correctly for the key combo mentioned above:

Traditional Alt-Tab (not only keyboard shortcut, but GUI list) may be achieved by alttab. It works nicely in fluxbox.

Install alttab.

Disable/comment built-in non-GUI Alt-Tab in /etc/X11/fluxbox/keys or ~/.fluxbox/keys:

#Mod1 Tab :NextWindow {groups} (workspace=[current])
#Mod1 Shift Tab :PrevWindow {groups} (workspace=[current])

Edit ~/.fluxbox/startup:

...other apps...
alttab &
exec fluxbox

System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Navigation > Hide all normal windows

Click the second field which says Disabled and type in a key combination of choice (e.g., Ctrl+Alt+D).

System restart may be required for changes to take effect.
