I know how to enable window snapping in MATE Desktop, and it works. My problem is this. By default, Window A fills half the screen, and Window B fills half the screen, and you can't click and drag the edges of the window to resize without unsnapping the window, and resizing the left side, right side, top, and bottom. Is there a way around this?

After learning that Ubuntu was running Unity 2D I started suspecting that there was a problem with my video drivers.
I purged nvidia-current* and nvidia-settings* packages and rebooted (turns out logging off and on again is all that is necessary).
Logging in again the "aerosnapping" now works so I'd consider this answered.
Now to figure out how to get these drivers correctly installed.
I think you can edit the EDGE settings in GRID using the CompizConfig Setting Manager
(to install this run sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager in a terminal).
If you set the corner setting (i.e setting Upper Left Corner to Top Left Corner) then when you drag the windows to the corners, it will "SNAP"

If you are using Marco as your window manager, try switching to Compiz (System > Preference > Look and Feel > MATE Tweak). You can enable window snapping in CompizConfig Settings Manager.
