I want to upgrade my current Wubi installation (Ubuntu 11.04) to Ubuntu 11.10. Is this possible to do inside Wubi? Or do I have delete Wubi from Windows, therefore deleting my current Ubuntu installation; and then install 11.10 via the Wubi installer?

The option "upgrade 10.04 to 11.04" is not like upgrading 10.04 to 11.04 via an upgrade to 10.10.. This option means that all data from your /home will be preserved but you will have to reinstall your idividual applications and you will also have to create your users again. User setting from these applications (including passwords in the keyring) will be preserved.
"Upgrade from 10.04 to 11.04" therefore is like a clean installation (i.e. "Erase Ubuntu and reinstall") but without formatting your drive and without erasing /home.
As with all OS upgrades it is strongly recommended to backup your data before you proceed.
Your Windows partition(s) will only be touched and deleted by choosing "Erase everything".
Just go to Control Panel>>Add/Remove software and remove from there. It uninstalls like any application that you install in Windows. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide

You can upgrade a Wubi install - the same way as a normal upgrade, either from the Update Manager or via the Alternate CD (while running your Wubi Ubuntu). Note that the alternate CD has been discontinued since release 12.10 so you have to use the Update Manager.
I recommend that you check you have plenty of free space - at least 3GB - the upgrade underestimates the space it needs (bug report here).
Also, a quick and easy precaution is to backup the
\ubuntu\disks\root.diskfrom Windows before upgrading - that way, if it fails you can just copy over the root.disk from before the upgrade.Note that upgrading to
14.04will require a manual workaround in order to boot.
