Ubuntu – Unmet dependencies after upgrade to 16.04.1

the upgrade (up from 14.04) went smoothly with all installed apps, except for Inkscape, which was erased.

I've updated and used apt-get autoremove, I successfully installed the latest stable PPA from inkscape.org but when trying to install Inkscape I get the following:

    The following packages have unmet dependencies
    inkscape : Depends: libgsl2 but it is not going to be installed
    E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

When trying to install from the Ubuntu software center the Inkscape icon appears with a "waiting to install" message, never doing anything else.

A good way to solve these problems is to use aptitude.

sudo apt-get install aptitude
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Now several ways to solve the problem will be proposed by aptitude:

Choose the solution that uninstalls the least packets. Write down what packages are removed. Install the packages again if needed.

After some additional research I found the answer via the following questions How do I resolve unmet dependencies after adding a PPA? which can be applied to this question as a solution.

In your terminal run

software-properties-gtk

Under Ubuntu Software tab, enable all the repositories

Next run

sudo apt-get update    
sudo apt-get upgrade

Finally run

sudo apt-get install  postgresql-9.3-postgis-2.1

Worked successfully for me I hope this helps someone with the same issue install postgresql-9.3-postgis-2.1 with unmet dependencies on Ubuntu 14.04
