Ubuntu – Uninstalled Firefox still here

I purged firefox(*) and deleted /etc/firefox and /usr/lib/firefox, the whole .cache thing and so on as already mentioned in Removing Firefox in Ubuntu with all add-ons like it never existed

After all, I still find "Firefox Web Browser" in All Application and even firefox --version shows me (even after reboot)

Mozilla Firefox 72.0.1.

The command type firefox says

firefox is /snap/bin/firefox

What should I do to completely get rid of it?

This can be checked using the command type firefox. If you get an output like /snap/bin/firefox, Firefox is installed using snap on your machine.

To uninstall Firefox which has been installed using snap, use the command:

sudo snap remove firefox

For Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit I did the following to install the Acrobat Reader plugin in for Firefox. (This assumes I have already manually installed Acrobat reader to /opt/Adobe/Reader9).

sudo apt-get install nspluginwrapper
sudo nspluginwrapper -i /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so

Now double check with:

nspluginwrapper -l

the output might look something like:

/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.nppdf.so
  Original plugin: /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so
  Plugin viewer: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer
  Wrapper version string: 1.4.4-1
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/npwrapper.nppdf.so
  Original plugin: /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so
  Plugin viewer: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer
  Wrapper version string: 1.4.4-1

Restart Firefox, and double check the plugins:

Firefox >> File >> Open Location >> "about:plugins"

the output should contain:

Adobe Reader 9.5

  File: npwrapper.nppdf.so
  Version: 
  The Adobe Reader plugin is used to enable viewing of PDF and FDF files from within 
  the browser. 
  ...

Hopefully it should be working now.

Ubuntu – How to remove firefox installed from a debian package

I think the following link will help those who have the same problem as me: FirefoxNewVersion

Basically under the Uninstallation section of the document, do the following:

Delete the ~/firefox directory and the ~/bin/firefox file
Run firefox -ProfileManager and delete mozilla-build

In my case I just deleted all the firefox folders mentioned above but I don't think this is a very clean removal of Mozilla-Build-of-Firefox...
