Ubuntu – Unable to install VMware Player: Module VPMC power on failed

I want to install Ubuntu on my VMware Player, but I facing the following error:

Virtualized performance counters are not supported on the host CPU type.
Module VPMC power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine`

How can I solve this?

Edit the .vmx file and search for vpmc.enabled. Set it to FALSE.

Create the symbolic link:

sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/vmware /etc/rc.d/init.d

Then run the following command to install all vmware services:

sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

Start VMware

vmplayer
