Ubuntu – Ubuntu 16.04 – Some applications are slow to start

Applications such as Chrome (no problem with other browsers), terminal, print screen, they all take ages (~1 minute) to start. All applications that I invoke with key-binding are slow. This has been going on for a couple of days.

output for gnome-screenshot is immediate; it takes more than 1m when I press PrtSc.

I had the same problem and running the following command solved it:

gnome-keyring-daemon &

Edit: The origin of the problem seems to be the dbus-user-session package. After uninstalling, everything works fine. The bug was solved here https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1689825
