Ubuntu – Ubuntu 16.04 installing Epson driver fails on LSB >= 3.2

Automatic installation of Epson print WP-4015 Ubuntu 16.04 never finish… installation freeze.

If I download latest drivers from epson.net, I can't install DEB package, because of APT writes me that required LSB >= 3.2. But I have installed LSB installed in higher version.

solution is easy, at first

sudo apt-get install printer-driver-escpr

after that search on your computer Printers after having connected the printer click on Add and after click on the model of your printer and follow installation

which suggests that Ubuntu 12.04 is capable of finding and installing printer drivers automatically. Although sceptical, I decided to try with my wirelessly-connected Epson PX730WD. It worked ! I used "System Settings / Printing / Add Printer / Find Printer" (roughly speaking) which found the printer as soon as I turned it on. In fact the drivers it found were for a slightly lower spec device - the PX710W - but so far I have not had any difficulties as a result of this.

Download epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.6.14-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb from

http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX

Copy it to your Home folder, then run

sudo dpkg -i epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.6.14-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
sudo apt install -f

The second command will intall lsb and other dependencies if they are not already installed.

Then install the printer from System Settings. It will find the driver.
