rhythmbox
When Rhythmbox is not active/not focused and when I am on some other application window.
How to skip/stop/resume songs that are playing in Rhythmbox. Is there any shortcut key to do that?
I know when I am on Ubuntu desktop I can press Alt+10 to get the focus of indicator applets from there I can navigate to Rhythmbox and use arrow keys to skip it ( <- / -> ) but is there any other direct shortcut to do this?

As far as I know, you need to grep the actual dbus-session of the machine that runs rythmbox. This is kind of tricky. I have installed a script at my server, which is run after boot automatically, and which saves the current dbus-address to a file in my homedir.
If I ssh to the machine later, I can just grep the session-adress from there.
I: Script to store dbus adress: name it "Get.Dbus.sh" and save it somewhere to your disk. Give it the following content:
set | grep DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS > ~/.DBUS_temp
make it executable and add it to your start-items
II: Script to grep the current session: name it "Run.DBus.sh" and save it in e.g. /usr/local/bin/
Give it the following content:
source /home/YOUR_USERNAME/.DBUS_temp
export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS
$*
don't forget to make it executable
III: ssh to your machine and start the rhythmbox-client as follows:
Run.DBus.sh rhythmbox-client
This works here!
Repeat once functionality is inbuilt to this plugin via the play-toolbar popup
As the author I've described this in my blog. In summary, install via my PPA package (PPA instructions below) "rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar", or following the manual installation instructions at the project homepage.
There is now a useful plugin you can add to Rhythmbox to give you this functionality.
"Repeat one song" feature for Rhythmbox
Adds a toolbar option to repeat the selected track when the toolbar option is clicked. Note - it does not repeat a song from the Play Queue.

You can use the instructions in the link below to add my PPA and install the plugin ("rhythmbox-plugin-repeat-one-song").
Alternatively,
download the .tar.gz file from the homepage (link above), extract and copy the files into the folder ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/plugins/repeat-one-song
Start Rhythmbox, enable the Repeat One Song plugin: Edit --> Plugins
For v2.99 and later the "Repeat one" button is replaced by the source "Edit - Repeat Current Song" menu option

Yes you can use the fn and >>| key that is on most keyboards. On my keyboard it is fn+f10 but just look for the key that looks like the fast-forward button.
You can also set the shortcuts for the keyboard
