I have tried numerous solutions online, installing various packages but none has worked.
Other things to note:
I hear audio in skype.

Setting in Pulse Audio Volume Control:
Open Pulse
Audio Volume Control > Configuration tab > Built-in Audio - Profile: Analog Stereo Duplex
