I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop (GTX 960M / I7-6700HQ – Intel HD530) and it would not let me past the lockscreen until I re-installed the nvidia driver (it installed driver 370, I just used ubuntu-drivers autoinstall).
After installing the nvidia driver my system now works but I have some awful screen tearing even when just moving windows around and when scrolling through web pages it's even worse.
Things I've tried so far:
- Changing GPU to use in NVidia XServer settings
- Adding "TearFree" "true" to
xorg.conf
for the intel device
What else can I try?

I have coded a script which switches between Intel and NVIDIA's video card. Besides switching between them it also FIXES video/screen tearing when using INTEL video card. NVIDIA video card still showing video/screen tearing problems to which I haven't found a solution so far.
Here's the script on GitHub
