I was using ubuntu 13.10 alongside w-7. there was some broken packages on ubuntu so I decided to freshly install ubuntu. while installation I selected "erase ubuntu 13.10 and reinstall" . ubuntu reinstalled but my windows and whole partition got deleted annd entire disk is assigned to ubuntu only.
there was some IMP data in that partition partition and I want to recover that data . so guys , can I recover that data and how . please help its urgent

Well. Testdisk really works. I have documented in the past my previous 500 GB Data loss which was up to 80% recovered via Testdisk.

I couldn't fully recover my data because of I was trying to recover using different tools, (including MS Based tools which I don't recommend because of it resulted in the damage of the data itself. So I strongly suggest you to first run the steps mentioned in the video in order to bring back the partition, after which you will be able to undelete/recover any data loss that could happen during data recovery.
I am following your question closely even if downvoted just in order to provide help. I know this is not a forum and have read the rules but I have experienced this in the past and I know how it feels. Just for information: It took me 2+ weeks to fully recover my data. So please be patient. I am sure we'll find a way to bring your data back.

Warning: If you follow these instructions you must install testdisk on a different Ubuntu system than the one you're trying to recover (for example, you could install it in a live environment, or you could put the hard disk into another computer that has Ubuntu on it). If you install anything on a disk from which you wish to recover data, or save anything to it, it becomes far harder to recover anything because more data are overwritten.
You can try testdisk to recover it. I hope you can recover it, because you didn't formatted the space it. Only the partition table is changed.
Install it via Software center testdisk
or by using sudo apt-get install testdisk command in the terminal.
Then run it with sudo command, i.e sudo testdisk. Please Don't forget to read the manual of it. manpage for the testdisk command

I had the same problem , and its easy to recover whole partition within a few steps!
first , install testdisk:
sudo apt-get install testdiskthen get into testdisk , and I assume you wont find nothing from Quick Search so use Deeper Search, There it will list some NTFS partitions , identify yours , highlight it and press 'p' then when you found the desired file , press 'c' , it will ask you where to save your recovered file , locate to destination and press 'c' again!
Repeat for other files as well!
