Ubuntu – Press a shortcut again to undo the action

For example, to open the context menu for a highlighted item in Nautilus, one can press Shift+F10 to open the context menu (cf. this question). However, pressing Shift+F10 again does not close the menu, as I would have expected.

Is there a way to enable this behaviour for this shortcut (and for other similar shortcuts, in general)? Alternatively, is there another keyboard action I can use to close the context menu (I don't want to click the mouse)?

You may press esc to close the context menu.

Shift+F10 worked in my case. I guess the need of Fn depends on the keyboard you are using.

P.S. I used this combination on a file in Nautilus (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS).

Open a terminal with Ctrl-Alt-T keyboard shortcut and try executing this command to fix the problem:

 gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings close "['<Alt>F4']"

This command will set Alt-F4 as the default binding for closing the window. Then you should use the regular Ctrl-W to close tabs.

After the command, try testing it. Hope this will help
