Ubuntu – Opening Slack logs the user out of ubuntu

As soon as I start slack app(snap) I get logged out of my user in Ubuntu 18.04.

I will provide more info if I can check things before it logs me out. Can you please suggest how I check for some logs and also how to fix this issue.

This happened to me as well when installing from the snap repository.

I uninstalled the snap, removed the ~/.config/Slack folder and then reinstalled from deb file. I downloaded it from here: https://slack.com/downloads/linux

The app worked on first try and after reboot it kept working. Hope it helps.

Same here after update Ubuntu from 18.04 to 18.10 yesterday.

Slack v3.3.1 stopped working. Tried update to v3.3.3 with no luck. Both Official Slack deb versions.

Trying run Slack from terminal, just prints Segmentation fault (core dumped). Based on this, Slack came back to work:

sudo mv /usr/lib/slack/libnode.so /usr/lib/slack/libnode.so.bad
sudo ln -s /usr/share/atom/libnode.so /usr/lib/slack/libnode.so

Okay, it seems installing a newer version of Mesa helped me. (I followed the instruction here but just in case I repeat the steps in this answer, in case the original post disappears).

Adding ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates

After that, the following packages are upgradable:

$ sudo apt list --upgradable

Log out and log in again. Everything seems to work fine and I can open Settings without any problem.

P.S. Uninstallation (although for me it brought the problem with Settings back, hence, it seems this is indeed the solution for my problem):
