I am writing a document and it is required that the first page (title page) has no page number and the second page starts with page 2. I don't know how to remove the footed only in page 1 and leaving the footer in the rest of the pages as is. Can anyone maybe help?

What I suggest you do is to install pdfmod
(Click to install), then you can delete any subsequent pages you no longer need.
Or you can install it via the command line:
sudo apt-get install pdfmod
Press Enter, then enter your password, pressing Enter again and PDF Mod will now be installed.
On the first page, do the following steps:
- Insert Footer -> Default style
- Insert Fields -> Page Number
- Double click on the
1in the footer to choose the roman format:
Quit the Footer edition to go back to the top of the first page then add 5 page breaks to get the first 5 roman pages:
Now to restart the numbering with the usual page number insert a page break with the Footnote style instead and change the page number to 1 as shown below:
This 6th page will not show the blue Footer marker by default but click at the bottom of the page to make it appear (you may have to click on the + to show the Footer line):
Then "Insert Fields -> Page Number" to get a normal 1 on this 6th page.
Note: Use "View image" in your broiwser to get a zoomed picture of the last screenshot.

First, make a copy of your document for safety purposes!
Please set so called 'Title pages':
And while setting page numbers in footnote:
Set it to requested value: 1
