I am working in Netbeans on Ubuntu for the last 4 months. But today when I opened Netbeans, it just got stuck in the Ubuntu launcher bar at the left side of screen.
I have my project pending in Netbeans (which is not opening). I am stuck in this problem.
I also rebooted Ubuntu a number of times, still the same. I can't open Netbeans.
Why is this happening? What is the cause of this problem? What should I do?
tried $gksu netbeans, nothing happens, $ prompt shown again.
Looks like you're hitting bug 1274469; the libnb-javaparser-java package is newer than the netbeans installation.
The fix is to manually downgrade your version of libnb-javaparser-java, to match the version of netbeans that's installed. You can do this with:
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/libn/libnb-javaparser-java/libnb-javaparser-java_7.0.1-1_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i libnb-javaparser-java_7.0.1-1_all.deb
then restart netbeans.
The answer provided by https://askubuntu.com/users/22949/eliah-kagan did not work for Ubuntu 19.04 with NetBeans 11 since the C++ plugin is not available under "Netbeans Distribution" when I tried it.
To install C++, I also had to select the Update Center labeled "NetBeans 8.2 Plugin Portal". It appears that C++ is not in the latest distribution yet, so I had add the legacy Update Center.
After adding this update center, I was able to locate and install the C++ plugin as shown in the previous answer, and then create a C++ HelloWorld program in NetBeans 11 on Ubuntu 19.04

I finally re-installed netbeans and restarted the system before trying to open it.
