You have to install the nautilus-open-terminal package from the universe repositories for Ubuntu versions up to Ubuntu 15.04:
sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal
If you want to install it with apturl, use this URL: apt://nautilus-open-terminal
Then:
nautilus -q
In order to restart Nautilus
In Ubuntu 15.10, the functionality is already included in nautilus
!
Edit : just install nautilus-action and gnome-terminal did the trick
sudo apt install nautilus-action gnome-terminal
If you don't want to use gnome-terminal, then you can use the following steps :
I managed to reproduce it via the nautilus-action package.
sudo apt install nautilus-actions
Launch the configuration tool :
nautilus-actions-config-tool
First, change the global preferences to display actions at the root of Nautilus menu (instead of nested) : go to Edit/Preferences menu and uncheck the "Create a root 'Nautilus-Actions' menu like below :
Click on Ok.
Now, we add our action : go to menu File/New Action and check "Display item in location context menu", change the "Context label" to "Open in terminal". See below :
Go to the Command tab and put "x-terminal-window" in the Path.
Don't forget to save the configuration (menu File/Save) and to restart nautilus (in a terminal : nautilus -q)
After launching a new nautilus window, you should have someting like that in the top right menu :

The official version
nautilus 1:3.14.2-0ubuntu12
from 15.10 (Wily Werewolf)'s officialmain
repository already includes the Open in terminal functionality. If you check any folder's context menu, you'll see it's already there without installing any additional package. So
nautilus-open-terminal
is not necessary on 15.10 systems any more.I can proof this by showing you my list of installed packages containing "nautilus" in their name:
Update:
Actually the functionality was already included into Vivid (15.04)'s
nautilus
package, but thenautilus-open-terminal
package also still existed. Therefore if somebody installed the add-on, he suddenly had the context menu entry Open in terminal... twice!
