in Unity with the CTRL-ALT-KeyPad_7 keybinding I can move a window to the top-left corner and it is automatically resized to a quarter of my desktop size.
In gnome-shell, in dconf, I found the relevant option for gnome-shell:
/org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings
move_to_corner_nw, however this just moves the window, without actually resizing it.
Would you have any hint?

Install gconf-editor.
sudo apt-get install gconf-editor
Now, run gconf-editor ( Alt+F2 gconf-editor)
Go to apps/metacity/window_keybindings and edit the move_to_center / move_to_corner entries to your liking. (see screenshot:)
First of all, install dconf-tools .
To do that, run the following command:
sudo apt-get install dconf-tools
Then open it, Alt+F2 → dconf-editor.
Scroll down to org → gnome → desktop → wm → preferences → mouse-button-modifier → Set it to whichever key you like.
Or, equivalently,
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences mouse-button-modifier "<Super>"
in the terminal. (This requires neither dconf-editor, nor dconf-tools )
Warning: Setting it to nothing means that all clicks move windows, instead of disabling it!
