I've been using Ubuntu Netbook Edition as my main OS for a while now. I really like it, but I have one complaint. Whenever an application as a long title, it gets cut off. For example the terminal works fine. See:

This should say Text Editor but instead it shows Text and a huge empty space. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Instead use this:
sudo apt-get install appmenu-gtk indicator-appmenu indicator-applet-appmenu
Add it to your panel by right clicking on the panel, choosing Add to Panel and then select Indicator Applet Appmenu

Yes, the Desktop version of Unity will use the global menu by default.
package, then log out and back in.Unity will continue to run without it and your menus will appear inside the application windows as normal. You can also tell the appmenu to ignore specific applications if you're having a problematic app.
The command line way to remove the package is:
sudo apt-get remove indicator-appmenu
Removing the appmenu will break the HUD feature

This has been fixed in Ubuntu 11.04 which will be released later in April. The full application title shows up except when you mouseover the title which reveals the File, Edit, View menu instead.
