I'm using a fresh install 18.10 on my Samsung Serie 5 Ultra 530U3C A0L notebook.
I really enjoy the Linux experience so far and everything I need works out of the box for me. The only thing missing is tap to click. How can I activate it? I looked for an option in lxqt but couldnt find one.
I googled a bit and found this: synclient tapbutton1=1 but typing this in the terminal did not help.
Type this into the terminal:
synclient MaxTapTime=0
But it will only work for the session, unfortunately.
I have also found this which I have now tried myself
Essentially it is a way to put the synclient settings MaxTapTime=0 into an executable file (I personally don't like fixes which involve installing GUIs on lubuntu - the whole point of it is lightness.
I have now found that there is a way to get a .sh file to come on at startup in lubuntu see this thread where I asked about it.
If you type

Into terminal. This will bring up all the possible settings for the touchpad, so you can potentially do more tweaking.
Click on the Menu icon in your panel.
Choose Preferences in the dropdown and then choose Customize default applications for LXSession. This is a new feature in Lubuntu 13.10. There's no documentation that I know of as yet.
A screen will open as shown below:
Autostart tab. You should see something like what is shown in the image. config-only appears next to Disable autostarted applications. Manual autostarted applications and next to + Add, type in synclient MaxTapTime=0 Customize default applications for LXSession window.~/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart. You should see a line with synclient MaxTapTime=0. There's no need to do anything. Just close the file. Tap to click should be disabled now. This works for me in Lubuntu 13.10.
