The "Language Support" icon from the System settings has disappeared:
(Also I can't find it from Dash)
The last thing I've done was changing the keyboard input method system to "ibus".
I tried to execute gnome-control-center directly in the command line, expecting to see errors in the output, but there is no console output.
Where can I start looking for the cause? Can I call the "Language Support" option directly from command line?
IBus has support for the typical languages requiring an IME such as Japanese, Chinese (various) and Korean. See list below.
It has replaced SCIM as the IME frontend of choice for Ubuntu, since it's more actively developed. If you're not happy with IBus, SCIM is a mature alternative.

As for lo-gtk and th-gtk, I think they are for Lao and Thai respectively. See below:
$ locate lo-gtk
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/lo-gtk
$ head -n3 /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/lo-gtk

1. I think you need to open Language Support and install Chinese(simplifed or traditional)
2. You can try to install Chinese input method manually
sudo apt-get install ibus-pinyin
sudo apt-get install ibus-sunpinyin
3. Restart IBus daemon
ibus restart
4. Then you can find Chinese(pinyin) input method in Text Entry Setting.

The Language Support utility is provided by the language-selector-gnome package
sudo apt-get install language-selector-gnomeOnce you install that package, you'll see the language option in the System Settings again.
