Ubuntu – Is Autopilot Openstack 16.04 available

I tried to build an openstack deployment from scratch starting with 7 physical servers and Ubuntu 16.04. I've had no issues using 14.04 on the same setup.

After the initial setup in MAAS 2.0 beta3 (which is substantially different than 1.99) I had my machines in a ready state, installed openstack with apt-get. When I go to run openstack-install, it complains that I don't have openstack installed, when I try to apt-get openstack again, it shows that I already have the most up to date version.

Is there something I'm missing?

Not yet, you'll want to follow this bug for status of MAAS 2.0 and Juju 2.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/juju-core/+bug/1564577

As for OpenStack on 16.04 you'll want to do:

sudo apt install conjure-up
conjure-up openstack

Unfortunately, the easiest for now is to access Landscape on the ip address given. You can use something like sshuttle or ssh -D to get access to an environment quite easily with almost no setup.

If you need to create an external IP, the IP address you create needs to be accessible to all the nodes, and the outside.Then you can make a change to the Landscape juju environment like this:

export JUJU_HOME=~/.cloud-install/juju
juju set apache2 servername=<hostname-you-want>

Follow juju debug-log and you should see the charms reacting to the change and updating the root_url correctly.

Once you have access to Landscape, you can continue with installing the OpenStack cloud on the remaining 3 machines. As it is from your description, it sounds like you have this right now:

Machine 1: MAAS
Machine 2: Landscape
Machines 3-5: unused

When you login to Landscape, you will need to continue following the instructions on the page you linked to.
