The Hindi font rendering problem in Chrome is already well-documented. There has been a bug report filed against this problem.
A workaround has been suggested in the bug report, but I consider it too drastic as it involves deleting a couple of fonts. Instead, we can achieve the same effect by renaming those fonts.
Enter these commands in a terminal:
sudo mv /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSerif.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSerif.ttf.backup
sudo mv /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSans.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSans.ttf.backup

This does have to do with the anti-aliasing in Windows. It expects you to have it on in the OS, so they don't bother re-creating anti-aliasing in the Office Suite. If you disabled the anti-aliasing in Windows, it would look the same.
If wine's own font smoothing does not work, then I don't think it will. Here's a test to make sure its just the display that's wrong. Print something...does it look okay?
Maybe post a complaint on WineHQ under the Microsoft Office information; they may be able to help you more (and possibly fix the problem in their next update).
I have seen this problem too (on my own computer, I have Office installed as well). I learned to ignore it. Also try zooming in on the text to make it look a little better. Setting the view to page-width may help a lot.

Type the following in terminal.
sudo apt-get install ibus ibus-m17n m17n-db m17n-contrib ibus-gtkNow Goto System>>Preferences>>Keyboard Input Methods Or Type ibus-setup in terminal to start the daemon.After starting the daemon IBUS Preferences will be opened.
Select the Input Method tab and from the drop down Add Hindi language and click close.Now open open office word and you can start typing in Hindi by pressing Ctrl+Space if you press Ctrl+Space again you can start typing in English.

You can toggle between both the languages by pressing CTRL+SPACE.
