Is there a quick simple way of installing FBReader? Also, how do I fix the filetype not being recognized (mime TYPES?)

From within Nautilus navigate the menus to Edit->Preferences.
On the main Views tab change the "View new folders using" option to "List View" and the "Default zoom level" option at the bottom to 33%.
modify ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
[Default Applications]
- text/plain=bless.desktop
- application/octet-stream=bless.desktop
+ application/octet-stream=gedit.desktop
This reverts the text/plain app to using the system default in /usr/share/applications/defaults.list, and changes the default application/octet-stream. It seems that Firefox labels this mime-type as "Unknown".

Install FBReader:
sudo apt-get install fbreaderAssociate with .mobi format:
xdg-mime default /usr/share/applications/FBReader.desktop application/x-mobipocket-ebook
