Ubuntu – How to install Canon MX922 printer

I could not find an appropriate driver for the printer. Tried other Canon drivers; a generic Postscript and generic PCL5/6 but when I send a print job, the printer wakes up but does not print.
The same happens when using wireless or USB connection.
Other Canon printers work just fine.

Install the driver from Canon (ver 3.90). Oddly, it shows up on its Asia site, but not on its US site. This worked for me on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty.

Printer Installation Steps

Download the debian driver found here on Canon's Website:

Extract the tar.gz file and then run the install.sh file:

tar -xvf cnijfilter2-5.00-1-deb.tar.gz
cd cnijfilter2-5.00-1-deb
./install.sh

Installing the scanner

Repeat the same steps:

Download the tar file
Extract
run ./install.sh file

After installing the scanner run:

scangearmp2 to start the scanner software. It'll scan for your scanner.
