I am not holding a camera, I do not need to hear a shutter sound to know I pressed the Print Screen key.
Other suggestions on the site encourage people to disable event sounds, but I use these.

Troubleshooting steps:
- Double check that your "Print Screen" key isn't physically stuck, or mapped to another function,
- Check
settings > keyboard > shortcuts > screenshotsand make sure you don't have a special key mapping there, - Check your Compiz config settings (Put "compiz" in the launcher and the settings manager should come up.) for the "Screenshot plugin" and try disabling that if it is enabled.
If none of that works clues you in to the problem and it starts happening again, try ctrl-alt-F2 -- that will get you a clean console where you can log in and run "top" to note what's actively running in TTY7. To get back to Gnome/Unity, just do ctrl-alt-F7.
If you start the Screenshot application manually (search for Screenshot in the Dash), it should show a window that looks like this:
If you select Grab the current window and set an appropriate delay, you should be able to capture pop up menus, the web browser quick search results, etc. Just hit the Take Screenshot button, perform your quick search and wait until the delay timer completes.

Either disable system sound effects or, I am assuming you want to disable only the screen shot sound, move or rename
