Ubuntu – How to check the status of the CMOS battery

I have found myself in situtations where the internal battery has been used frequently. How do I check its status without diving into the mountain of directories?

NOTE I need to know about the CMOS battery. not the laptop's power supply, so this isn't a duplicate of those questions

$ cat /proc/driver/rtc | grep batt
batt_status     : okay

In the terminal window giving the command:

sudo aptitude reinstall gnome-power-manager

Worked for me on the same issue, give it a try.

try:

sudo dconf-editor

if you haven't it, then install:

sudo apt-get install dconf-editor

then

org->gnome->settings-daemon->plugins->power->critical-battery-action=>nothing
