Ubuntu – How to burn or mount an ISO file

1. Insert a blank DVD into your burner. A CD/DVD Creator, Choose Disc Type or Blank Disc window might pop up. Close this, because you will not be using it.

2. 16.04 and later no longer comes with a CD/DVD burner, so install Brasero Disc Burner. Open the terminal and type:

    sudo apt install brasero
   

3. Open Brasero and click on the Burn image button.

   

4. Select the ISO you downloaded in the Select a disc image to write box and your DVD drive in the Select a disc to write to box and click the Burn button.

5. Once the DVD is burned, you can restart your computer and try or install Ubuntu.

Open a terminal (ctrl+alt+t) and run the following commands:

1. Install dmg2img sudo apt-get install dmg2img
2. Browse the folder where the file is located cd PATH/TO/THE/FILE
3. Next convert the .dmg to .img dmg2img NAMEOFTHEFILE.dmg NAMEOFTHEFILE.img
4. Create a directory to mount the image mkdir /media/image
5. sudo modprobe hfsplus
6. Mount the image sudo mount -t hfsplus -o loop NAMEOFTHEFILE.img /media/image
7. Download Brasero sudo apt-get install brasero
8. Create the .iso with from the previously mounted .img following this guide
9. Open Brasero and burn the image (.iso)
