Ubuntu – E: Package ‘libssl1.0.0’ has no installation candidate

I get this error message when I try to install libssl1.0.0'.

How can I solve it? I use Ubuntu 19.04

The results of rmadison libssl1.0.0 show that the libssl1.0.0 package was dropped from the default Ubuntu repositories after Ubuntu 18.04.

The results of apt search libssl show that the libssl package has been upgraded to libssl1.1 in Ubuntu 19.04 (and later). To install it open the terminal and type:

sudo apt install libssl1.1

This happens when you try to install a package about which APT does not have any idea. When you add software sources, you need to do an apt-get update so that your system APT's database is updated with all the packages on the repositories listed in the software sources lists.

Then when you try to install any package, APT checks the package name in it's database, finds it and checks the name of the repo from where it got it. It then downloads the package from that repo.

This means of all the repositories listed in your software sources, none of them have the package named munin-memcached. I checked again and it is not available in official Ubuntu repos.

After a bit of googling I found that it is available in this PPA: chris-lea/munin-plugins

Add this PPA and install the packages at your own risk. I do not know this person.

To add the PPA, issue the below command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chris-lea/munin-plugins

To install package munin-memcached, issue the below command:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install munin-memcached

Ubuntu – Package ‘tomcat7’ has no installation candidate on ubuntu 12.04

tomcat7 package is only available on security repositories, universe section for precise, saucy to wily is available in the main repository, and newer in the universe repository. So, make sure you have in your /etc/apt/sources.list the following line:

 deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-security main universe

The line don't have to be exact, it could include multiverse and restricted, but it should include all the elements above. If the line was not present in the source.list file, add it and run apt-get update. Now you should have tomcat7 available.

If you don't find the `source.list` file

Execute:

sudo nano /etc/apt/source.list
then paste into the file:

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-security main universe
Hit: Ctrl+O to save the file, then Ctrl+X to exit.
Update the package list with sudo apt-get update.

I have installed tomcat6

Then you must delete tomcat6 of your system, before trying to install tomcat7

sudo apt-get remove tomcat*
sudo apt-get install tomcat7

This will remove all tomcat related packages the install tomcat7 without problems.
