Ubuntu – Does Evince support javascript in pdf files

In some pdf file readers for MS Windows such as those from Adobe or Foxit, it is possible to turn off the ability to implement javascript in a pdf file. Is that possible with Evince (Document Viewer) 3.2.1? I don't see any option to do so.

Or, is it that Evince does not implement javascript in pdf files at all?

Essentially, it doesn't support it, so you can't turn it off.

You can do this via command line:

pdftotext filename.pdf - | tr -d '.' | wc -w

There is a bug report for Envince. Have a look for further information and status update, the bug is still open.

There is a possible workaround that seems to work for some users, you might try and let us know.

Run these steps on a terminal:

Install the tool

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install qpdf
Run this command, input.pdf is the source file and the output.pdf is the saved file after running the tool.

qpdf --decrypt input.pdf output.pdf

Try opening the output.pdffile and doing your changes there.
