In relation to this question: What screenshot tools are available?
Is it advisable to deinstall or deactivate gnome-screenshot when installing and using shutter? Or doesn't it make any difference (e.g. is there two daemons running now?)?
Activating shutter works perfectly, I'm just wondering whether the system gets bloated when installing a second tool to override the first one.
After some research, I found out this is a won't fix bug described in Gnome's Bugzilla.
So the only way to do it is use the screen shot tool with a delay, as described before.

We need to install CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM) to bind Print and Alt + Print to Shutter. Follow these steps:
Install compizconfig-settings-manager .
Open Dash (press Super) and query for ccsm and hit Enter to run CompizConfig Settings Manager.
Under the General Category, you would find the option called Gnome Compatibility. Click on it (not the Checkbox beside it, ie; keep the checkmark activated).
Now switch to the Commands Tab and modify the text fields as shown in the following image.
Explanation of previous step. You can run man shutter in terminal to see what are the different CAPTURE MODE OPTIONS available.
shutter -f - This captures the entire screen. Activated when you press Print.shutter -a - This captures the current active window. Activated when you press Alt + Print.Enjoy taking screenshots with Shutter!!

These tools aren't actually daemons running - but rather only run when executed or launched. It would be similar to having both OpenOffice and gEdit installed on a computer. Though they both serve the same function they won't collide with eachother.
You should be fine and safe to have both tools installed side-by-side
