I installed texlive 2010 and ran fc-cache -fvs to update font cache. After that some fonts are not displaying properly in google chrome. In firefox it is working fine. What could be the problem?

I faced the same problem. Following steps fixed the issue.
- Install
gnome-tweak-tool:sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool - Open Advanced settings from dash.
- Select "Fonts".
- Select "Grayscale" or "None" for the "Antialiasing" setting.
This issue is with the recent version of chrome. If you don't want to do the above steps I would recommend you to downgrade the chrome version.
Download and install nafees-urdu fonts.
Update the package index:
sudo apt-get update
Install the fonts-nafees package:
sudo apt-get install fonts-nafees
and refresh your browser. This works fine for me.
