gedit
I am currently using gedit for two programming projects. One is done with Python, the other one with Java. In the Java project I have to use tabs and in the Python-one I have to use spaces.
Can I configure gedit in a way that I don't have to manually change the tab/space settings?
Clone the repository git://git.gitano.org.uk/personal/liw/makefiletab3.git
mkdir -p ~/src
cd src
git clone git://git.gitano.org.uk/personal/liw/makefiletab3.git
Create the plugin folder for gedit
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/gedit/plugins
Create a symbolic link
ln -s ~/src/makefiletab3 ~/.local/share/gedit/plugins/makefiletab3
Change the Python version in makefiletab3.plugin
Open the file
nano ~/.local/share/gedit/plugins/makefiletab3/makefiletab3.plugin
and replace
Loader=python
with
Loader=python3
Restart gedit and activate the plugin
I had the same problem (using Bash on Ubuntu on Windows, after the Windows 10 creators update), and it went away after I installed:
sudo apt-get install dconf-editor dbus-x11

Not that I could see, I think you have to move up the IDE - editor to get to where you are wanting to go.
Geany might do this...
