I like the Gnote is a great application but unfortunately has no app icon, I would like to know if there is any alternative to Gnote working in the systray of Unity.
Note: Tomboy is not an option

Written in Python, and using GTK 3 library. Current version is 0.3, but works well. You'll have to add this ppa to enjoy this application :
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:umang/indicator-stickynotes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indicator-stickynotes
- You can lock/unlock, hide/unhide your notes from the panel.
- Change notes color
- Create as many post-it as you want

As of in Ubuntu 13.04 with the latest PlayOnLinux running Evernote and/or join.me in a Wine 1.5.28 bottle...this problem has just disappeared on its own.
I just have PlayOnLinux create the shortcuts on my desktop and then I copy them to ~/.local/share/applications log out and log back in. Then I take these Dash shortcuts and drag them to the launcher.

. It's more of a wiki type application, but it's great for taking notes, and will work with Unity's appindicators.
